The Frontbridge Capital Origin Story
A lawyer, a banker, and an accountant walk into a small town in Eastern Washington…
The partners of Frontbridge Capital first came together when they were retained through their respective firms to advise a common client in the rural fiber broadband sector on a capital formation transaction. This engagement rapidly changed from a capital formation engagement to a turn-around, which, once complete, subsequently merited a third-party growth investment.
Through this experience, the partners came to recognize a common set of values and a common vision of private equity investing: representing capital providers in generating outsized returns by partnering with capable operators who recognize the benefit of working with a sophisticated investor focused on building and scaling platforms.
The partners have interdisciplinary and highly complementary backgrounds. James Wagar has spent his career in private equity and investment banking. Steve Winslow started his career in public accounting before joining Western Wireless, a highly acquisitive telecommunications firm which spun-off VoiceStream, which was ultimately acquired by Deutsche Telecom and became T-Mobile in 2002. Steve currently advises emerging growth and middle-market companies as a consulting CFO. Shamim Mohandessi is a corporate lawyer who has spent his career in VC/PE capital formation, mergers and acquisitions, and related corporate matters.
With backgrounds in finance, accounting, law, corporate development, and the private capital markets, Frontbridge Capital is equipped to act as a virtual C-Suite to portfolio companies making the transition from founder-owned companies to institutionally-backed platforms.
Additionally, Frontbridge maintains active relationships with advisors and operating partners with deep domain expertise in Frontbridge’s areas of focus.
